Marbled Butterfly Plate SECOND

Round curved plate with inlaid nerikomi butterfly design.

Similar to collaging with paper, each plate is individually handmade by cutting, assembling and pressing thin shapes of stained and marbled clay bodies into a contrasting slab of clay. The slab is then carefully formed in a mould, dried, fired and finished with a glossy transparent glaze. A playful, decorative, one-off piece which embraces the accidental surprises that occur during the making process.
